2008 Pioche Announcements

The Pioche Fire Department. . .

wants you to know that you need DEFENSIBLE SPACE  around you home and property in the event of a wildfire. As proven here in years past, wildfires may occur in and around our town.  A MINIMUM OF 50 FEET of defensible space, free of anything that will burn, is recommended and may save your property or even your life.  Grass, brush, trees, and wood are all examples of combustible fuels that could carry a wildfire to your home.  If you are physically or financially unable to create a defensible space around your home, please contact any member of the Pioche Volunteer Fire Department.

Lincoln County Golf Association. . .

has joined with the Pioche Parks and Recreation Board, a Corporation, to secure the land needed for a golf course. This has been accomplished. A course has been laid out and marked off, estimated costs have been figured and copies of both are available from golf association officers.

We now have over 100 people signed up and interested in helping the project. WE WILL NEED THE SUPPORT OF THE WHOLE COUNTY to make this a realization. This project was originally started about forty years ago, but fell apart when the Rainbow Canyon Course was constructed. This time we are determined to go ahead, with or without grants, or other outside monies, to pay for the project. IF we all pitch-in we can do it.

Entry forms for the new golf association are available at several locations throughout the county and on the Pioche and Lincoln County web sites .

Caliente Senior Citizens. . .

activities each week include:  Bingo every Thursday from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. On-going Pinochle groups, everyone is welcome.  Please reserve your seat.  Craft activities, always welcome.

Caliente Senior set Mondays for exercising and card games, Tuesdays for pinochle, Wednesdays for exercises and crafts, Thursdays for Bingo, and Friday for exercises.  They have a monthly pot luck the last Friday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Olson Senior Center.
